Here are some of my favorite things from the upcoming release – but if you want to see them all, be sure to check out the Summer 20 Release Notes. And because I like Process Automation, that’s where most of these come from.
#1: Trigger Flows More Ways Than Ever Before
This has been true the last few releases, but now I’m starting to wonder if I’ll ever actually need to write a trigger… The last release brought us before save triggered flows and now this release is bringing us after save triggered flows. Bonus: You can also trigger flows with platform events.
Are we even missing anything to using flows or do we have…
#2: Debug Flows without Committing Changes
Where has this gem been all my flow life? Debugging flows in rollback mode means you aren’t actually committing changes. But remember, that doesn’t mean you can just start doing all your flow testing in Production.
#3: Customize Record Details in the Lightning App Builder
Salesforce is calling it “Dynamic Forms“, but I’m calling it “Hasta la vista, Classic Record Details Grossness”. Those of us who have been living in Lightning the last few years have inevitably tired of editing page layouts in two separate places. While this feature is not yet fully GA, it’s clear the end is in sight.
While we’re on the topic of the Lightning App Builder, it’s worth a mention that you can now add Lightning Actions on Custom Object Lightning Pages in the App Builder. Who needs the Classic Page Layout Editor anyway?
#4: Omnichannel Routing Using Work Status Capacity
I confess, I know Sales cloud much better than Service Cloud. But that doesn’t mean I don’t like to know what’s happening over in Service Land (I mean, what Salesforce Guru’s goal isn’t to use Salesforce for as much as possible?).
Now generally available is the ability to set omnichannel routing based on how much work your agents have closed vs. in progress. How handy is that?
There you have it! My four fave things from the Summer 20 release. But remember, as with every release, there’s a whole heck of a lot happening, so be sure to do your favorite blog tour to check out what others think is the bee’s knees. And check out the Summer 20 Release Notes for yourself!
